본 연구의 목적은 대학에서 개설하는 북한문학 관련 수업에서 주제별, 장르별로 북한의 문학작품을 감상하고 토론함으로써 대학생들의 북한에 대한 인식의 지평을 넓히고, 이질성과 동질성을 찾아 통합의 지향점을 탐구하는 과정에서 나타나는 대학생들의 통일에 대한 인식의 변화를 고찰하고자 하는 데 있다. 북한문학을 강의하는 교과의 중요한 목표가 남북한 문학예술의 접점을 발견하고 통일인식을 형성할 수 있는 창의적 역량을 배양할 수 있도록 하는 일이지만, 실상 우리에게는 오랜 시간에 걸쳐 내면화된 분단 이데올로기가 사회적 무의식으로 작용하여 그 목표에 다가가는 데 장애를 안고 있다. 그래서 정치, 군사적 의미보다는 문학 텍스트를 통해 북한의 일상을 세심히 들여다봄으로써 고정되지 않고 시대에 따라 변화하는 인식의 경향을 살피고자 하였다. 학생들은 북한 주민이 우리와 같은 민족으로서 언어와 역사, 전통을 공유하고 있음을 문학작품을 통해 자연스럽게 인지하게 되었으며, 분단의 고통에 대해 공감하며 통일세대로서 기초적인 통일인식을 내면화할 수 있었다. 상식적인 논리로는 수긍하기 어려운 ‘북한식 사회주의’를 어떻게 이해할 것인가 하는 문제에 진지하게 다가갈 수 있는 기회 또한 가질 수 있었다. 그런 점에서 단지 감상의 차원이 아니라 합리적 이해와 결단에 의해 이루어지는 통일교육의 방안을 고민해야 한다는 결론이다.
The purpose of this study is to broaden the horizons of university students' perception of North Korea by viewing and discussing North Korean literary works by topic and genre in classes related to North Korean literature offered by universities, and to consider the changes in university students' perceptions of reunification in the process of exploring the direction of integration in search of heterogeneity and homogeneity. Although the main goal of the curriculum for lecturing on North Korean literature is to discover the interface between the literature and art of North and South Korea and to cultivate creative capacities to form a unified perception, in reality, the ideology of division that has been internalized over a long period of time acts as a social unconscious and hinders us from reaching this goal. Therefore, it is necessary to look carefully at the daily life of North Korea through literary texts rather than political or military meanings, to examine the trends in perception that are not fixed and change with the times. Through literary works, the students naturally recognized that the North Korean people share language, history, and tradition as a people like us, and the students were able to internalize their basic sense of unification as a reunification generation by empathizing with the pain of division. I also had the opportunity to seriously approach the question of how to understand "North Korea-style socialism," which is difficult to accept with common sense logic. In this regard, it is concluded that we should consider the method of unified education that is achieved not just by sentiment, but by rational understanding and determination.
