The purpose of this study is to examine the honorifics based on the recent grammar references of South and North Koreans. In the South grammar references, (1) there are the 'not addressee-raising' instead of 'addressee-lowering', 'unification of order of ranks, not binary system', the resonable explanation of 'hao style, hake style' in the hearer honorifics at the controversial issues. (2) the contents of speaker(self)-lowering(humbleness) is newly exhibited besides the traditional honorific system(subject/object/hearer), (3) not only the norms but also the strategic usages are focused, (4) the respect of hearer is based on all kinds of honorific system(subject/object/hearer). In the North grammar references, (1) there are the basic honorific system(subject/object/hearer) like South grammar references, but the portion of object honorific is not much, considering subject and hearer honorifics, (2) some honorifics in North Korea show the special social structure of North Korea society, (3) the explanation of the honorifics of North grammar references show the normative grammar, theoretical grammar, functional grammar respectively.
