1. Social Changes and Freedom of Movement in North Korea
North Korean society can be analyzed from various perspectives. The situation of North Korean human rights violations can also be scrutinized based on international standards. With the start of the Kim Jong-un regime in 2012, there have been various attempts to describe North Korea’s politics and society. One way to grasp the general scope of North Korea’s society is to analyze the current conditions which North Korean residents face under Kim Jong-un’s reign, by exploring the situation of human rights violations in North Korea. One can observe rapid social changes in North Korea through the growth of the jangmadang economy, rampant corruption, the regime’s control of its people, among other aspects.
