...규정하든지 간에 전쟁이 중단된 이후 민족해방과 체제경쟁과 같은 명분은 사라졌다. 그럼에도 대결과 불신을 근간으로 하는 정전체제가 65년여 동안 지속되어온 이유가 무엇인지 냉정하고 객관적인 자세로 성찰할 바이다. 이를 이 책에서는 ‘분단정전체제’의 지속이라 이름 붙이고 있는데, 그것은 평화학에서 말하는 장기분쟁(protracted conflict)의 한 형태이다.
