본 연구는 한반도의 분단과 평화, 그리고 동아시아 지역질서의 역사적, 이론적 특성에 관한 기존 연구들을 집중적으로 비교분석하여, 한반도 국제관계를 한반도의 세계적 위상을 규율하는 다양한 영역의 시공간 복합체로 개념화하고, 그 역사적 진화를 데탕트 시기 진영체제의 이완, 탈냉전으로 인한 진영체제의 해체와 미국 패권체제로의 전환, 그리고 대테러전쟁 이후 미국 패권체제의 위기를 중심으로 검토한다.
This is a concept paper to theorize post-World War II international relations of the Korean Peninsula. Premised upon a comparative review of the existing studies on the nature of both the division of the Korean Peninsula and East Asian regional system, this paper conceptualizes international relations of the Korean Peninsula as diverse (political, economic, military, etc.) time-space complexes that connect/contextualize/discipline the Korean Peninsula’s place in the world, and traces how such time-space complexes of the Korean Peninsular have evolved and changed the Cold War blocs system through the historical epochs of detente, the end of the Cold War, and the recent crises of American hegemony.
