With nuclear tests and the launch of long-range missiles, North Korea has been sanctioned by the international community, resulting in difficulties in earning foreign currency. Given that fact, North Korea is gearing up to attract Chinese tourists. Currently, the near absolute majority, 95%, of tourists visiting the North Korea are Chinese nationals and Chinese’ tours to North Korea are not subjected to the U.N. Security Council sanctions. This study discusses howthe selection attributes fromChinese tours toNorth Korea impact North Korea’s image and the intention of tourists visiting the North Korea. To carry out this study, 380 copies of a survey were distributed to Chinese nationals and 308 responses were analysed for this study. According to the results of the study, first amongst the selection attributes of a tour to North Korea, is that experiencing North Korea’s culture positively (+) influences the country’s image. Second, amongst the selection attributes, exchanges with North Korean residents, cultural experiences of the country and security in theNorth Korea influence positively (+) the intention of a visit to North Korea. Third, North Korea’s image is positively (+) affecting the intention of visit to North Korea. The main subject of this thesis is Chinese nationals, a near absolute majority of foreign tourists toNorth Korea, suggesting a way to promote tourismto the North.
