In this essay I considered the Tsukiji little theater in Koreans modern theatrical movement during the Japanese Occupation period prior to the establishment and activities of the Chosun Drama Alliance(朝鮮演劇同盟). Because the Tsukiji little theater was in the center of Japanese progressive theatrical movement, the experience of these activities played large role in the formation of the Chosun Drama Alliance after liberation in 1945. The Chosun Drama Alliance as a progressive theater groups that advocate ‘ progressive establishment of national drama in Korea' through activities of 3ㆍ1 movement Memorial theater Festival, 8ㆍ15 Liberation Memorial Independent Drama Contest and Cultural Propaganda Group, gave an artistic impression to the number of audience and a significant contribution to establish the national, popular culture of drama. The Chosun Drama Alliance was also highly appreciated from the Drama Art Association(극예술협회) that advocates ‘pure play’because of these activities. Many peoples of the Chosun Drama Alliance chose the North Korea in political situation of the ‘Liberation Space’ and conflict of left and right ideology, but it was caused by political repression and restrictions against ‘progressive cultural movements'. At this point, beyond the ideology of the left and right the activities of the Chosun Drama Alliance that advocate the ‘progressive establishment of national drama’will have to be re-evaluated in the Korean contemporary history and the Korean modern history of drama.
