초록
The political affiliation of Louise Yim was to build a unified, independent nationfor Koreans, support and sponsor Syngman Rhee as a leader of korean people, liber democracy and anti-communism. Louise Yim organized national party forKorean women(大韓女子國民黨) right after the independence to establish a footholdfor women to enter politics, started political campaigns to support Syngman Rhee, and started anti-trusteeship movement. Louise Yim’s duty as a delegate for Korean democratic member(大韓國民代表民主議員) sent to UN was to brought Korea independence issues to the U.N. GeneralAssembly so that trusteeship is prevented and an independent nation of Koreansis found. To serve these purposes, Louise Yim contacted influential people andpress of the US and UN to arouse public opinion of international society andgain their support. Louise Yim‘s capability that made these activities possiblewas stemmed from experience of studying in the us during the colonial periodand personal connections that were made during a visit to America to raise afund for the expansion of Chungang kindergarten normal(中央保育學校)’s facilitiesand the establishment of a foundation. Especially, Eleanor Roosevelt had beena great help for Louise Yim to enter and work at UN. Louise Yim continued her work of appealing to and persuading major governmentpersonnels of the US, delegates of the UN and american press of the importanceand necessity of Korea’s independence. At first, she tried to solve both problemsof independence and unification issues of Korea through the general election ofboth south and north korea. Louise Yim claimed that both Soviet Union andUnited States pull back their troops and build a unified, independent Korea. Yet as time passes by, Louise Yim started to propose the possibility of forminga separate government of South Korea and firmly insisted on holding a separateelection of south korea and forming a separate government after Soviet Unionrefused the United Nations panel’s entrance to the north side of the 38th parallel.
