초록
There are many similarities between the history of the Judea-Israel relationship in the history books of Bible and that of the relationship between North and South Korea. The north and south Israels have gone through many changing stages, such as ‘conflict - interchange and cooperation - conflict - mission.’ Likewise, North and South Korea have undergone ‘conflict -interchange and cooperation - conflict’ while South Korean people have continuously supported and tried to evangelize North Korea. This study focuses on the policies of King Jehoshaphat as the southern representative of the interchange and the cooperation period and on those of King Hezekiah as the southern representative of the northern mission. Later, the author examines the contributions and problems of both and further, based on that, the problems of interchange and cooperation, and of the mission in the relationship of North and South Korea today. As his kingdom becomes stronger, King Jehoshaphat makes military and nuptial alliances with King Omri, the head of the northern kingdom of Israel and takes Athaliah, daughter of Jezebel, as his daughter-in-law. As a result, after Jehoshaphat's death, Athaliah's influence expands and finally the royal family of Judea is dethroned for six years. King Hezekiah, on the contrary, celebrates the Passover after the restoration of the sanctuary and sends couriers to the northern kingdom, hence inviting the northern people. So a lot of people participate in the festival and go through the change of their values, destroying the idol images in all Israel before they return. The northern mission of Hezekiah produces spiritual change and salvation among the people. High wisdom is needed by the South Korean Government and Church, when they confront the tasks of interchange and mission with North Korea in the period of conflict. We should love and share with them, but try not to fall into a state of confusion because of the "Juche" and other North Korean ideologies. The policies of Jehoshaphat and Hezekiah toward the northern kingdom give us a good example to examine in building up our own policies toward the north.
