A study on Vietnam’s reform and opening is completely necessary as the historical background is similar with North Korea among socialist states. The foundation of the study must be the analysis of the correlations between entry conditions and reform and opening up policies. The reasons why studies on Vietnam’s reform and opening haven’t been focused on entry conditions are because they have been dealt with in general research methods where Vietnam’s reform has been considered as same as that of other socialist states, as well as lack of understanding. Now the studies must include qualitative analysis which considers the distinct characteristics of Vietnam along with quantitative one. in order for this, as well as analyzing comprehensive economic entry conditions which include environmental, historical, and structural factors and early stage of development, we must be able to analyze the relationships between these entry conditions and the choice of the reform and opening up policies, its enforcement time and the results. In order to carry out this study, we need to visit relative local Vietnamese institutes, conduct field investigation and reconstruct the situation at that time. In conclusion, when data is lacking such as Vietnam’s instance, the studies can be carried out effectively when quantitative and qualitative analyses are progressed concurrently.
