This study attempts to reorient the current reunification education in ROK based on the peace education in the Northeast Asian context. Reunification education is education for overcoming division in the Korean peninsula, so that this study begins with reviewing the history of Korean conflicts, the division in particular, after the 20th century. Overcoming division is related to how to make peace in the Korean peninsula, which is interconnected with the Northeast Asian conflicts. Consequently this study focuses on the interdependence among neighboring countries in Northeast Asia in relation to the division as well as reunification in the Korean peninsula. Accordingly, reunification education should be reoriented from education for defeating enemy model towards peace educational framework; interdisciplinary practice, living together lesson, change of mind set of teachers and networking among various stakeholders are needed for peace education. By doing so, reunification towards encouraging a culture of peace would be settled in both Korean peninsula and Northeast Asia region as a whole.
