This essay has a porpose to research the local shaman music in whole of Korea. For this study, characteristics of musical requisities, main agents of performances are mentioned and finally the simplifying and categorizing are tried. In general, Korean shaman retuals divided by three different types in musical characteristics. First, classifying by main agents of performances, second, classifying by accompaniment, and the third is classifying by contents of music. First is divided by two types again; shaman-leading type and players-leading type. Second has melody-oriented type and rythmic music-oriented type. The last is divided by four different types; ritual-oriented, epic-oriented, lyric-oriented and complex form. Shaman music in Korea have something in common and difference, and they are still transmissed in different way. Some shaman rituals keep their original form and music but many other cases are now in a crisis of extinction, modifying or reduction. For example, we could not find hereditary shamans in Chungcheong province and informations of shaman rituals in inland of Gyeongsang province anymore. Shaman ritual of Hwanghae province refered in this essay is performed and transmissed in Incheon and west beach, in fact. But it has still valuable for investigation about shaman ritual of North Korea where has no more traditional religious.
