초록
Ku Sang is a poet who pursued persistently history and ontological theme on the basis of Catholicism. In particular, we can perceive such a steady pursuit in his self-reflection and atonement for the sin from tragic recognition of the Korean War. The indictment case for his writings in Eunghyangis the event which manifests not only the political situations in South and North Korea but also a decisive change in his destiny. "The Way to Dawn 1," "The Way to Dawn 2," and "The Way" are the poems relevant to the event. In those days when people mistook literature for a song in praise of liberation or a means of propaganda for communism, Ku Sang, publishing the poems such as "The Way to Dawn," symbolized a communist revolution with his critical perspective. In this point of view, Ku Sang is the very poet that has not only his prophetic intelligence but also a spirit of self-sacrifice. In other words, Ku Sang deals with beauty, ethics and faith as an entity which can't be divided. Ku Sang, as "a fighter who came to the South seeking for freedom" sought after the inner world of the metaphysical existence in The Christ Paul River. He wrote these sequential poems in order to find the light of redemption modeling after a pattern of conversion as the Catholic church hopes. We can find the eternity of river in The Christ Paul River. We can also find the event of Incarnation in The Real Aspect of Logos. Jesus Christ, God's Only Son as well as an incarnation of Logos is the representation of eternity who struggled against all the unfaithfulness and was crucified, dead and finally rose again from the dead. Such a point of view is reflected well in「Jesus in Nazareth」. However as for Ku Sang, his love for nation and neighborhood means just an ontological reason as well as an eternal truth. His understanding of history and reality merges into the catholic view of the world.
