It is not surprising that North Korea has been ranked as the most closed economy around the world. So it is interesting to observe that North Korea has been highly interested in international economic law since the late of 1990s. This paper assumes that North Korea’s willingness to learn international economic law can be the barometer of its attitude to open its economy. As North Korea’s decision to open its economy will play a key role in promoting peace in East North Asian area, it is important to check how North Korea perceives international economic law. In this essay, I reviewed and analyzed the attitude of North Korea toward international economic law, international investment, World Trade Organization, international financial institutions from 1998 through 2006.
