This article analyzes news releases from the Korean Central News Agency and discusses the relationship between anti-Americanism, militarism and structural violence in North Korea. While anti-Americanism serves its system as a political and defensive ideology, it constructs structural violence and destroys its own socio-cultural systems. North Korea’s anti-Americanism and its corresponding militarism increase international aggression and normalize unequal access to social, economic, and cultural resources domestically. The primary finding in this study indicates anti-Americanism is used as a political reaction to fear of systematic maintenance, an ideological tool for political mobilization, a psychological logic for militarism, and an underlying source of structural violence.
