초록
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review effects of nursing education programs to understand North Korea. Methods: This study follows the methodology of Whittemore & Knafl’s integrative review. Literature search was conducted in six electronic databases (RISS, NDSL, DBpia, KISS, PubMed, and CINAHL), focusing on publications in the past 10 years. Five studies were selected for the final analysis, and the Equator network was used to assess methodological rigor and quality. Results: Qualitative research has recently shown that education programs had a significant effect on the formation of interests, improvement of awareness and behavior, and improvement of cultural competence. Also, use of direct interaction and various teaching methods was more effective to educate nursing students about North Korea. Conclusion: Standardized education programs are needed for nurses to understand North Korea. Such programs will need to include direct and various teaching methods. The limitation of this study is the small number of analyzed studies. Despite this, the study provides a basis for developing education programs to understand North Korea.
