The purpose of this research is to analyze how much North Korea's system has the durability in the end of 1990.
In this study, the concept of durability means the extent of maintenance which the communist system has.
This research starts on the basic premise that North Korea's system is on the verge of crisis.
This study is based on the approach methodology of the West which empirically makes a study on the change of the world communist system.
Accordingly being focused or the traits of North Korea's system, the method of this study is to measure and assess the durability of North Korea's system as the whole system.
Through the results of these appraisal and comparison of other world communist system (USSR. China, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia), this study is aiming at predicting to a extent which North Korea's system can show the possibility of change.
The study consists of seven chapters.
The first introduced the tonics.
The second plained the methodology of analysis.
In chapter three I appraised political spehere by classifying one party ruling system, legitimacy, political leadership, foreign relation, etc.
In chapter four I assessed economic spehere by dividing the national income & people's economic life, the efficiency of economic policy, the ability of production and the quantity of supply in the industrial sector, labor force, foreign trade.
In chapter five I assessed social spehere by classifying the scale of population structure, social stratification, social control, social integration, welfare.
In chapter six I appraised cultural sphere by dividing people's values unification of traditional culture and the Juche ideology, religious activities, activities of literature and arts, life of people's culture.
The conducing chapter I appraised North Korea's system as the whole system.
In this study, the durability of North Korea's system in the end of 1990 was assessed as the following according to each spehere.
First, the measurement points of the durability in political field appeared as 「+8(40%)」. In result North Korea's political system now has generally high durablity.
Second, the measurement points of the durability in economic domain appeared as 「-9(-90%)」. As the result, North Korea's economic system is almost on the situation of absolute collapse.
Third, the measurement points of the durability in social domain appeared as 「+4(40%)」. As the result, North Korea's social system has the durability of mostly high level.
Fourth, the measurement points of the durability in cultural field appeared as 「+8(80%)」. As the result, North Korea's cultural system now has the durability of very high level. Specially at present, the level of North Korea's durability is higher than that of China. Consequently North Korea's cultural system is the foundation to support its system strongly.
In conclusion, the measurement points of the durability in North Korea's system as the whole system appeared as 「+11(22%)」. In result North Korea's system now has generally high durablity.
But after 「200」,the durability of North Korea's system will go through formalities as follows the collapse of economic spehere(the first phase), the collapse of political spehere or the collapse of social spehere (the second phase), the collapse of cultural spehere (the third phase).
After this process being passed, we should keep in mind that the unification of between South Korea and North Korea would be possible.
After all, eventhough we want or not, our hope and prospect on the unification is very far away.
In this context, I think we should establish and execute our unification policy from a long-term point of view.
