...박정희로 하여금 정당성 획득의 기반이 되었다. 박정희의 경주고도개발사업은 민족정신 고취 및 통일의지 고양이라는 목적 아래에서 수립된 것이고, 이는 1970년대 들어서 전환된 박정희의 역사인식에 기댄 바 크다. 경주고도개발사업을 추진할 당시의 상황은 한국군이 베트남전에서 철수를 시작한 시기였고, 베트남 특수가 사라지고 있는 상황에서 관광산업은 새로운 산업으로 인식되고 있었다. 경제개발은 경주의 문화유적과 관광을 결합시킴으로써 외화를 획득하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 경주시를 체계적으로 정비하고, IBRD로부터 차관을 도입해 보문단지를 설립하는 등 새로운 경주의 모습을 추진하였다. 그러나 박정희의 갑작스런 죽음으로 인해 경주고도개발사업은 더 이상 진행되지 못하고 미완성에 그치고 만다. 경주관광개발과 더불어 박정희는...
