Music in North Korea has its significance greater than mere a genre of art. Since the nation’s division, North Korea took advantage of music to be a political means intended to effectively emphasize and disseminate the Chuche idea, and developed the music in the name of so-called “Chuche music.” In particular, Kim Chong-il’s ruling era is called as the time of “music politics”
