.../> 1970년대 이후 미국 뮤지컬의 기류는 크게 바뀌어 종전의 극본 중심의 ‘북 뮤지컬’(book musical)에 도전하는 전혀 새로운 종류의 뮤지컬 형식들이 간단없이 등장하는데 이를테면 록 뮤지컬(rock musical), 댄스 뮤지컬(dance musical), 메가 뮤지컬(mega musical), 디즈니 뮤지컬(Disney musical), 팝 뮤지컬(pop musical) 등등이 쏟아져 나왔으나 이들은 오히려 미국 뮤지컬의 퇴보와 타락의 조짐을 보여준 측면이 없지 않으며 이에 대한 반성으로 1990년대 이후 미국 뮤지컬은 다시 해머슈타인과 로져스의 통일성 있는 극본 중심의 뮤지컬로 복귀하는 경향을 보여줌으로서 R&H의 뮤지컬 혁명은 이제 21세기에 들어와서도...
