The purpose of this study is to analyze the current state of North Korea's energy industry;which has been suffering from energy shortages for a long time;and to find out why North Korea is experiencing energy shortages;thereby presenting guidelines for resolving North Korea's energy shortage and integrating energy between the two Koreas. It became the central task of the strategy. Looking at the ratio of the energy resources of the two Koreas;South Korea accounts for 38.7% of oil;28.3% of coal;17.5% of LNG;and 9.3% of nuclear power;whereas North Korea is composed of 62% of coal;22.4% of hydropower;and 6.7% of oil. South Korea uses a variety of energy resources;but North Korea is heavily dependent on coal and hydropower. It can be said that the implications of the study are very large to understand the North Korean energy supply and demand structure and seek solutions to the North Korean energy problem for the future energy integration between the two Koreas.
