This study investigated the political ideologies and identity portrayed in Chongryon Korean language textbooks using CDA. The findings show that strong identity and attachment to North Korea are depicted. North Korea is described as an ideal place to visit, and doing volunteer work for North Korea is considered patriotic. Students are presented with a vision of growing into the children of North Korea. In addition, their loyalty to Chongryon schools is portrayed. Students are depicted as faithfully attending Chongryon schools, even if they live far away. Students have great pride in Choseon University, and are encouraged to help the Chongryon organization and their compatriots by visiting their local branches and facilities, such as counselling centers, as part of their extracurricular activities. The textbooks also praise the supreme roles of Kim Il Sung and state that students need to show their respect to him by visiting his birthplace, Mangyeondae.
