This article analyzes the perceptional changes of the National Cultural Tradition in North Korea’s historical research from 1945 to 1967 in relation to the political reality. The North Korea’s National Cultural Tradition was formed in the process of development its own historical studies and national cultural policy after the Liberation. In 1958, the perception of the National Cultural Tradition was negatively affected by the strengthening of the Revolutionary Tradition and the spread of the Chollima Movement. However, historical researchers self-criticized their negligence and disobedience and and actively participated in the Chollima Competition in research and publication. As a result, the National Cultural Tradition began to be revived in North Korea in the early 1960s. The spread of the National Cultural Tradition in the field of culture had a certain influence on the formation of the Juche ideology.
