【국문 초록】


본 논문은 북한 여성의복의 변화 양상을 연구하기 위한 것이다. 변화양상을 분석하여 변화의 특징과 함의를 파악하고자 한다.
북한여성들의 옷의 변화는 어떠한 심리적 배경을 이룬 것일까? 북한여성들의 심리적 의식변화와 사회의 변화를 살피기 위해 주목한 것은 패션심리이다. 패션의 정체성과 의상이 자아를 표현하는 수단으로서 옷에 담긴 패션심리; 즉 패션이 인간의 심리에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 옷을 입기까지의 과정을 통해 현대 여성의복의 성격과 사회적 기능의 중요성을 이론으로 구성하였다.
회색빛의 칼라를 가진 북한사회의 모습이 최근 다양하고 화려한 칼라로 나타나고 있다. 북한여성의 의복이 다양한 변화를 보이는 것은 북한여성들이 미에 대한 심리욕구가 발생되어 일어난 현상으로 볼 수 있었다. 이러한 심리욕구에 대한 이론으로 매슬로우의 욕구심리를 적용하였다.
의복변화의 다양화현상은 환경적인 요인에서 찾을 수 있는데 다음의 세 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 한류드라마와 시장의 활성화; 그리고 외부정보 유입과 공유 등이 패션의 다양화를 유발하는 환경적인 요인이라고 볼 수 있다. 한류라 대변할 수 있는 한국드라마의 유입이 의식변화에 영향을 미치고 있으며 이것을 통해 따라 하고자 하는 유행심리가 더해져 패션이라는 문화를 형성하고 있다. 이러한 패션에 대한 욕구는 시장의 활성화로 더해진다고 평가할 수 있는데 시장에서는 소비자의 다양한 수요에 맞춘 공급체제를 활성화 한 점이 의복변화를 더욱 가속화한 것으로 이해할 수 있다.
북한은 현재까지 의생활과 의복정책에서 꾸준한 변화를 보여 왔다. 김일성시기는 생산성향상을 위해 노동에 편리한 실용적 옷차림을 강조하였다. 하지만 김정일시기는 대외교류의 확대로 대외시선을 고려한 다양한 의생활을 강조한 정책을 보였다. 옷차림에 있어서 김일성시기는 깨끗하고 노동에 편리함을 내세워 노동력과 생산성의 능률을 높이기 위한 정책인 반면; 김정일시기는 다양한 옷차림으로 현대적인 미감을 강조하였다. 두 시기 모두 시대적 요구에 맞는 사회주의생활양식의 옷차림강조와 우리식 문화를 기본으로 한 의복정책은 같은 방향으로 추진되었다. 특히 민족성을 강조한 우리식옷차림 의복정책으로 조선옷착용을 추진하였다. 조선옷착용장려정책과 옷차림의 규제와 단속을 통해 체제의 안정을 도모하고 공고화하기 위한 것으로 평가 된다.
이상 본 연구의 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다.
첫째; 북한의 의복정책은 당국의 정책목표를 설정하여 실행되고 있다. 북한의 의복정책은 시대별로 변화되어 북한여성의 의생활에 직접적인 영향을 미치고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
둘째; 심각한 경제난을 겪으면서 사회주의 계획경제가 붕괴된 상황에서 시장과 같은 비공식경제가 확산되었다. 그리하여 북한여성들은 시장을 통해 외부정보에 눈을 뜨게 되었고 의식변화의 원인이 되었다. 의식변화는 곧 의복변화의 양상으로 나타났다.
셋째; 시장화와 외부정보 유입은 직업별 의복 변화와 함께 일반인들의 의복생활에서 다양한 변화로 이어졌다. 특히 디자인과 칼라의 변화가 다양해졌다.
넷째; 조선옷은 생활복과 행사복 및 결혼식예복의 역할을 함으로써 의복생활에 중요한 비중을 차지하였다.
다섯째; 북한이탈주민의 심층면접을 통해 한류와 외부문화가 의복변화에 영향을 주고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히; 리설주의 패션은 북한여성들의 유행심리에 영향을 미치고 있음을 파악하였다.
2000년 이후는 패션등장기로 표현될 만큼 자아의 표현수단이라는 의복의 양상이 나타나는 다양한 의복변화를 보였다. 자아와 개성을 표출하려는 개인의 욕구가 옷으로 표현된 패션은 다양한 북한사회문화를 형성해가는 과정을 보이고 있다.
결론적으로 북한여성의 의복변화는 김정일시기까지는 변화의 속도가 빠르지 않았다. 하지만 김정은시기 들어 빠른 변화를 보였다. 이는 외부의 문화유입으로 인해 북한여성들의 심리변화가 의복의 변화로 이어진 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 이러한 의복의 변화는 다시 북한사회의 다양한 생활의 변화와 함께 북한의 의복정책에도 영향을 미치는 순환고리를 이루고 있다.

【Abstract】

A Study on the Changes in North Korean Women's Clothing

This thesis is for studying the aspect of changes in North Korean women's clothing. This thesis aims to understand characteristics and implications of changes by analyzing the aspect of changes.
What psychological background do the changes in North Korean women’s clothing comprise? Things that this thesis took note for investigating changes in North Korean women’s psychological awareness and society is fashion psychology. This thesis looked into the effect of fashion psychology contained in clothing as means that identity and costume of fashion express self; that is to say the effect on human psychology. Through the process of wearing clothes; this thesis composed of the characteristics of modern women's clothing and importance of social function as a theory.
The appearance of North Korean society with gray color has changed into various and splendid colors recently. The reason why North Korean women’s clothing show a variety of changes was considered a phenomenon as a psychological need toward beauty occurs. As a theory on the psychological need; this study applied Maslow's hierarchy of needs.
The phenomenon of diversification in clothing can be found in the environmental factors; which can be summarized as three points as follows. Activation of Korean wave drama and market; and inflow and sharing of external information are considered environmental factors that arouse diversification of fashion. Inflow of Korean drama which can be represented by Korean wave affects changes in awareness; and addition of psychology to follow through the foregoing are forming a culture named fashion. Desire for such fashion can be added to activation of market; and it can be understood that activation of supply system matched to various consumer demands in the market accelerated changes in clothing in market much faster.
North Korea has shown consistent changes in clothing life and clothing policy to this date. Kim Il-sung regime emphasized practical appearance which is convenient for labor for improvement of productivity. However; Kim Jong-ill regime sticked to a policy that emphasized various clothing life considering foreign countries due to expansion of international exchange. As for appearance; Kim Il-sung regime employed a policy for increasing labor force and productivity insisting on cleanliness and convenience for labor; whereas Kim Jong-il regime emphasized modern sense of beauty through various appearances. During the two periods; clothing policy based on the emphasis of appearance of socialistic life style and our culture that meet the needs of the times was pushed ahead in the same direction. Especially; both regimes pushed ahead with wearing of Korean traditional clothing as a clothing policy that emphasizes ethnicity. It is considered that both regimes promoted and solidified stability of regime through a policy that encourages wearing of Korean traditional clothing; and regulation and control of appearance.
Results of this study can be summarized as follows.
First; North Korea’s clothing policy is being carried out by establishing a policy objective of the authorities. This study found that North Korea’s clothing policy has changed over time; exerting a direct effect on North Korean women’s clothing life.
Second; while experiencing serious financial difficulties; unofficial economy like market has been expanded in a situation that socialist planned economy is collapsed. Thus; North Korean women became conscious of external information through market; which became the cause of changes in awareness. Changes in awareness were shown as changes in clothing.
Third; marketisation and inflow of external information led to various changes in clothing life of the general public with changes in clothing by occupation. Especially; changes in design and color diversified.
Fourth; Korean traditional clothing held a key post in clothing life by playing a role as living clothes; event clothes and formal dress for wedding ceremony.
Fifth; through an in-depth interview with North Korean refugees; this study was able to confirm that Korean wave and foreign cultures affect changes in clothing. Especially; Lee Seol-ju’s fashion turned out to have an impact on North Korean women’s psychology for trend.
After the year 2000; various changes in clothing were shown that an aspect of clothing named means of expression of self appeared as much as the period is expressed as introductory period of fashion. Fashion that the needs of individuals to express self and individuality are expressed as clothing is showing a process of forming diverse cultures of North Korean society.
In conclusion; the speed of changes in North Korean women’s clothing was not so fast until Kim Jong-il period. However; rapid changes were shown entering Kim Jong-un period. This indicates that changes in North Korean women’s psychology stirred by the inflow of external culture leads to changes in clothing. Such changes in clothing is forming a circulatory link that affects North Korea’s clothing policy together with various changes in life of North Korean society again.
