...‘가곡(歌曲, art songs)’의 성립과 그 발전과정이 문학사의 주목을 받지 못하는 것은 당연하다. 문학사의 관점에서 봤을 때 기존의 시작품을 가사로 해서 악보를 제작하는 가곡 창작의 과정은 ‘시와 노래의 일치’를 강조한다는 점에서 전근대적인 사고를 반복하는 것처럼 보인다. 음악사에서도 사정은 마찬가지이다. 음악의 근대화는 시에 종속되어 있는 성악(vocal music) 중심에서 벗어나 순수하게 음악 그 자체만을 추구하는 기악(instrumental music)을 추구하는 것이 일반적이기 때문이다. 그런 의미에서‘시와 노래의 일치’를 추구하는 성악의 전통을 잇고 있는 가곡이 음악사에서 중심을 차지하지 못하는 것은 당연하다. 가곡은 문학사와 음악사에서모두...
