북한에서 시장화의 진전은 사회주의체제가 지향하는 공산주의사회 달성과는 멀어지는 정당성의 위기(legitimation crisis)를 초래하고 있으며 실제적인 측면에서는 시장화 세력이 성장하여 기존의 사회주의 정치권력과 갈등을 초래하고 있는 것으로 보인다. 시장화는 대단한 파급력과 침투력을 가지고 있으며 일단 시장의 메커니즘이 가동되기 시작하면 그것을 축소하거나 폐지하기는 매우 어려운 속성을 가지고 있다. 시장의 자기조직화는 이것을 말하며 시장과 돈주는 물론 이를 감시 통제하는 당·정간부들마저 뇌물과 편의를 제공받으면서 ‘시장의 자기조직화’를 재생산한다. 2010년 5 ·26 당 조치에 따른 대폭적인 시장의 허용은 이러한 상황을 대표적으로 나타내는 것이다
