2003년에 나온 독일영화 <굿바이 레닌>과 2006년에 한국에서 개봉된 <간 큰 가족>은 여러 면에서 공통점을 지니고 있다. 우선 두 작품 모두 분단과 통일을 주제로 삼고 있는 점과 통일에 대한 거짓말을 하고 있다는 점에서 동일하다. 그러나 <굿바이 레닌>은 독일이 통일되었음에도 불구하고 동독이 아직 건재하다는 거짓말을 바탕으로 진행되는 반면 <간 큰 가족>은 아직 분단상태에 있는 한반도를 통일된 상태로 만들기 위한 거짓말을 전개한다는 점에서 큰 차이가 있다. 통일에 대한 거짓말과 분단과 통일이라는 비극적 주제를 희극적 형식으로 다루었다는 점에서 두 작품은 독일과 한국영화사에서 큰 의미를 지닌다. 또한 <굿바이 레닌>의 성공으로 오랫동안 사장되어 있던 <간
