본 연구에서는 제41회 지바 세계탁구선수권대회 남북단일팀 참가에 관해 살펴보았다. 남한은 남북관계 개선과 남북대화 재개를 위하여 자신의 주장을 대폭 양보하면서 탁구 단일팀 구성을 북한에 제의하였다. 그리고 북한은 남한의 제안을 받아들이면서 남북단일팀이 구성되었다. 대한탁구협회는 남북단일팀 참가를 위하여 남북협력기금을 사용코자 지원하였고, 남북단일팀 참가 사업은 ‘남북의 주민이 공동으로 행하는 협력사업’으로 인정받음으로써 남북협력기금(2억 5천만원)을 지원받을 수 있었다. 민단과 조총련은 일본에서 개최되는 국제대회에서 공동응원과 환영식 개최 등에 합의하였고, 이는 오랜 기간 동안 반목되어 온 교포사회에 화해 분위기를 조성하는데 일조하였다. 총 3차에 걸친 단일팀의 공동훈련은 남북 선수들...
